The flowering autumnal plants on this tea bowl continue an ancient motif favored on enamel decorated Kyoto and Kyoto-style ceramics, as well as on decorated lacquer and textiles. The decorator was skilled at naturalistic rendering of the chrysanthemums, pampas grass, and other plants.
